Measurements and Units
To understand chemistry, measurements are crucial, and a uniform system of measurement, SI units (International System of Units), is widely used. Measurements involve uncertainty, and hence, scientific notation and significant figures are used to express and handle data. Dimensional analysis enables the conversion of measured quantities between different systems of units.

Laws of Chemical Combination
The combination of atoms is governed by fundamental laws, including the Law of Conservation of Mass, Law of Definite Proportions, and Avogadro’s Law, which led to Dalton’s atomic theory. This theory states that atoms are the building blocks of matter, and their masses are expressed relative to the 12C isotope of carbon.

Molecular Mass and Chemical Reactions
The molecular mass of a molecule is the sum of the atomic masses of its atoms. Chemical reactions represent chemical changes, and a balanced chemical equation provides valuable information on the molar ratios and particles involved. Stoichiometry is the quantitative study of reactants and products, enabling calculations of the amount of reactants required or products formed.
