About NMMS Scholarship Scheme
The National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) is a centrally sponsored scheme launched by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The program aims to financially support meritorious Class 8 students from economically weaker sections and reduce dropout rates after middle school.
In Karnataka, NMMS is implemented by the Directorate of State Educational Research and Training (DSERT). Selected students receive a scholarship of ₹12,000 per year, credited directly to their bank accounts through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). This initiative ensures equal educational opportunities for students from all districts across Karnataka.
The NMMS exam consists of two papers:
